Though DVD is a good option to install Windows but Microsoft recently stopped providing CD for preinstalled Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Create Bootable USB Pen Drive for Windows 7 and Windows 8
If you have Windows 7 or 8 or if you want to make bootable pen drive for Windows 7 or 8 then you can easily make it as Microsoft has provided an excellent tool for this process. We will Guide you step-wise to make a bootable USB pen drive of Window iso file.
Step 1- First of all – Download and Install Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool. This tool requires.NET Framework version 2.0 or higher so better first update it before installing the tool. This bootable tool runs well on Windows XP and higher. Make sure to use an administrator account.
Step 2 – I hope You have ISO file of Windows to mount in pen drive. If not you can download from torrent and other services. After that, Open the above Windows tool and click on Browse button to locate the downloaded ISO file.

The above mentioned Windows booting tool does not support Windows 8.1 as experienced by many people. It may support, but I will show another effective tool for booting Windows 8.1 in USB pen drive. Here We will use Rufus, as it is smaller and faster than all the other programs to create a bootable Windows 8.1 USB Flash drive. Follow the below steps to make your bootable USB pen drive with Windows 8.1.
Step 1- First Download the amazing booting software – “Rufus” and Install in your computer.
Step 2- Open the tool and from the first menu (Drop down) select your pen drive which you want to make bootable.
Step 3: For the next option – partition scheme, Select “ GPT partition scheme for UEFI computer “for UEFI enabled Bios, else select “ MBR partition scheme for BIOS and UEFI computer.
Step 4: Next option will be about- file system. There, select Fat 32 if the size of your Windows 8.1 ISO file is below 4 GB otherwise choose NTFS. It is necessary to choose a FAT32 system for UEFI BIOS. Got Confused here??? Comment below, I will help.
Step 5: Keep the cluster size as default one means don’t change that option.
Step 6: Now tick mark or check the quick format option and create a bootable disk using and select ISO image and there Browse and choose the Windows 8.1 ISO image you have.
Step 7: Now Check the “create extendable label and icon” and start the booting process by clicking on Start button.
Step 8: Wait for some time and you will have your own bootable USB Pen drive of windows 8.1

Step 1 – After making bootable USB pen drive, Connect it to the computer in which you want to install the windows.
Step 2- Now restart your Computer.
Step 3 – Now wait and Look for a message about pressing a key to boot from the device. Then Press the given key which will force the computer to boot from USB drive instead of DVD hard disk and wait for the booting process to start. ( This step may not be the part of process according to the configuration of your computer.)
Step 4- A window will pop up about the installation of Windows 8 or 8.1. Follow the instruction and step ahead.
Step 5- This will install Windows successfully in your Computer.

Tips and Troubleshooting:
1) Change the Boot Order to use USB Pen drive for booting:
Maybe you cannot select the USB drive for booting windows. In this case, you need to change the boot order.
> First restart your computer and watch for a message about a particular key, usually Del or F12, that you’ll need to press to …enter SETUP. Press this key immediately.
>After pressing the key, it will head you to “BIOS Setup Utility”.
Go to Boot menu and Search for Boot Order to be changed.
> Now you have to change the boot order to Bring removable devices at the top of the order. The boot order can be changed using the + and – keys. Remember, your BIOS may have different instructions.
> After changing Boot Order, press F10 to save and exit.
> When Setup Confirmation appears Choose [Yes] after changing the settings carefully.
> Now it will automatically restart your computer, and you can now easily install windows as per the above-given instructions.
2) Remove other USB removable Devices:
It’s better to remove other removable devices like other pen drives, printer, scanner, etc. to prevent conflicts as it may affect your booting process.
3) Change the USB Port:
Some Motherboards and BIOS checks only first few ports and leave the rest so if such problem occurs, better switch to another USB Port.
